I feel really dumb about this... downloaded the ...036.zip, unpacked it into a subdirectory, changed the permissions to make 'eclipse' executable and KDE won't run it. Trying to run it from the command line shows the problem easily enough ...

No idea, you may want to try Alt+F2 and try to run it from there, or address a Linux forum.

Can you try restarting your machine and see if the problem is consistent ?

Thanks,

Antoine

Another day, another attempt... and this is puzzling... the Alt-F2 trick didn't work... but it _did_ find the eclipse icon. symptom was nothing... no messages, no action, nothing, which is why i wondered if the message (no such file or directory) is actuall coming from eclipse

64 bit ???
Here's another idea... copied a version working on another (32 bit) machine and it still didn't work. BUT... here is my Java version...
java version "1.6.0"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0-b105)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.6.0-b105, mixed mode)
Is the Intalio eclipse dependent on 32 bit Java ???

Hi,

we never tested Designer over 64 bits, I am pretty sure it is not supported as we bundle with the Linux 32 bits version.

On top of that Designer runs only with a JDK 5.

I think there are options to run applications in 32 bits in 64 bits environments.

Let me know if you can get it to work.

Thanks,

Antoine

Re:Install issues on Ubuntu 7.04 10 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
this is _really_ driving me wild. because... I have a ubuntu 7.10 kde system and i've just loaded the latest designer and i'm still getting this problem. BUT (and this is deeply frustrating) another system, also ubuntu, but with gnome, an older version works just fine. i've tried switch my desktop to gnome and it has no effect. i've tried copying the directory from the working machine to mine, no effect.. IF ONLY I could get a message that told me what it couldn't find, i could do something about it. For the last few months I've had to use a second windoze (yuk) machine just to do designer work but now I have a task coming up where I have to do both (designer+server) on linux and I'm stuck...
what can I do to diagnose / fix this problem ???
