Excellent!

Now let's go to the second problem :

When you open a gateway, you need always to close it.
BPMN wise, what you are doing ( what we call implicit merge) is not wrong. However, we do not support it because it adds a lot of complexity , and makes the diagram very hard to read. Closing the gateways explicitly is also a best practice by the BPMN specification.

Attached is a screenshot of how your diagram will look like if you close all the gateways.
