Problem with designing a cycle 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi @all!

I need to design a cycle in my process diagram but it is not a looping subprocess. Somewhere in a "big" diagram I have an exklusive gateway and want to go back to a position in the workflow befor this gateway. Once while trying to design this workflow a warning appeared, called something with "cycle detected". That is correct, but I need this cycle to design the workflow and along to BPMN specification this is allowed. I also have no possibility to design a simple cycle as shown in the specification.
Does anybody know if and how it is possible to design cycles with Intalio Designer?

A problem in my diagram might be that there is the error "A case must define a condition." behind every exklusive gateway. I added text to all arrows but this seems not to help. Would be great if anybody has a suggestion for this problem, too.

Thanks for your help,
Stefanie

Hi Stefanie,

Depending wether you want to generate BPEL down the road:
If you don't care about it too much, just set the pool non executable. Also you can ignore some error types.

The modeler establishes some sane constraints to avoid having processes that cannot be transformed into BPEL. Using the Intalio modeler you will not be permitted to create back edges. What you can do is create a BPMN model using the STP BPMN modeler, where it should work fine (New>Other>Bpmn Diagram).

Thanks,

Antoine

Hi Antoine,

thanks for your answer!
At the moment I don't plan generating BPEL out of my diagrams. I set the pool non executable but the back edge didn't work. Where is the option to ignore error types?

I tried to create the other diagram using New>Other>Bpmn Diagram (the only possibility available) but this error occurs, when I try to open the diagram:

Code: :

Error opening the editor. org.eclipse.core.internal.resources.Project cannot be cast to org.eclipse.core.resources.IFolder

My current installer for Intalio is designer.installer-5.1.0.022.jar.

Thanks,
Stefanie

Yes, you need to select the Bpmn Diagram Editor in Open With.

Hi Antoine,

thanks for your help! Using the BPMN Diagram Editor works, but it's a bit tricky. Do design a back edge I have to connect the workflow with a new object (must be the same type as the object I want to connect the workflow to) and then use this arrow and link it to the object in the workflow needed for this back edge.

Sorry for answering this late, I had some problems with this forums login - I was logged in but posting was refused.

Thanks,
Stefanie

Similar problem with designing a cycle 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Sorry for joining, but I have very similar problem. I'm trying to implement workflow pattern MI with no A Priori Knowledge, where cyclic flow connection between two exclusive data-based gateways is needed. Can't do it. Followed all suggestions in this topic - was creating BPMN diagram, changed pool to non-executable, turned-off Cycle detection" constraint. I simply can't attach that gateways with connector.

Can you help me?
