Hi!

I don't know another way to create a cyclic flow. But have you tryed to create the flow to a new exclusive data-based gateway, save your file and then use this arrow to connect it with the expected gateway. Sometimes you have to save the diagram, close the tab in the designer and open the diagram again to see the changes.

Hope this helps you,
Stefanie

We are working on this, we will let you know more when it is done ; in the mean time the BPMN modeler from Eclipse doesn't have this limitation.

You can create diagrams without executable annotations by selecting New>Other>BPMN Diagram.

Then make sure to open the bpmn_diagram file with the BPMN modeler (in the open with options).

Thanks,

Antoine

Thank you for answer, Stefanie. It seems a bit tricky solution :) Even if it works, it only a workaround with no future guarantee.

Antoine, can you estimate probably date when it will be solved?

Thanks,

Wieslaw

I'm trying to implement workflow pattern MI with no A Priori Knowledge, where cyclic flow connection between two exclusive data-based gateways is needed.
Ignoring the Intalio limitations for a moment, how are you expressing this workflow pattern in valid BPMN? This workflow pattern is noted as having no direct BPMN 1.0 expression and I do not think BPMN1.1 alters this basic issue. A standard BPMN pattern or approach matching this workflow pattern would be of general value.

BPMN diagram for this workflow pattern is included in "Process Modelling Notations and Workflow Patterns" by Stephen A. White, IBM Corporation, BPTrends, March 2004.

I've modelled it using BPMN modeller from Eclipse.

Thanks. This seems to rely on marginal notes to express the requirement of starting new instances rather than BPMN notation itself ... which is probably why the academics said that BPMN can't describe this particular pattern. Myself, I find it difficult to see a useful concrete example of the pattern!
