Integrate a BPELdebugger into the Intalio Designe 9 Months ago

Should be very usefull a BPEL debugger integrated into the Intalio Designer.
It could help developers to analize the BPEL sequence flows step by step also showing, at every step, values of variables involved in a process.
A good example of what I'm thinking can be found in ActiveBPEL designer.
What do you think about?
Thanks Giuseppe F.

Dear Giuseppe,
Thanks for your suggestion. We do agree that we need a debugger to help the development life cycle. However a BPEL debugger is probably not appropriate. Indeed today in Designer, you can build processes using BPMN and several tools to manipulate the data which can be debugged at runtime using the Console. Debugging a BPMN process is far easier than going at the BPEL level and having a BPELDebugger will only be usable by BPEL developers which is only a tiny portion of our users.
I believe building a BPMN Debugger which would be more powerful. Embedding the Console natively in Designer might be a good start, what do you think?

I'm agree about BPMN debugger could be better than a BPEL debugger but it has to be a "full features debugger".
Today the web console allow to do only some features that a Developers needs. Especially using the console is not possible to set breakpoints. In addition it needs a better way (more usable) to show value of messages/variables during process execution.
Are you agree?
Thanks Giuseppe F.

Thanks for your comment. Indeed adding the ability to set breakpoint is today lacking and should be in scope of the BPMN Debugger project.
Do you have an idea on how to improve the usability of the console regarding the view of variables?

In order to improve the usability of view of variables in a debugger session, I image the possibility to watch variable's values directly in the designer clicking on the icons rappresenting messages exchanged in "message flow connectors".
Obviously this possibility have to come with introduction of a step by step execution and with the possibility to set breakpooints in BPMN diagrams.
Is this only a dream?

Giuseppe,
This is not dream I think and this is the purpose of this feature you are proposing. I am going to rename it : propose a BPMN Debugger and I encourage every single user interested by this feature to vote for it and increase its visibility.
Best Regards,
Arnaud
